Private Advisory Boards

“I had wanted for a long time to find some sort of a business coach, somebody to help me to be accountable to myself and to my business…”
The concept of private advisory boards has been in practice since the time of Ben Franklin. Typically, private advisory boards are comprised of business owners (in non-competing industries) who are experiencing a sense of isolation and seek accountability for themselves and their businesses, as well as input from peers. Groups of 10 – 15 business leaders are led by a professional facilitator and committed members function as each other’s business advisors. The Chesapeake “Think Tank” members meet monthly to get input, ideas, creativity and a reality check from respected and successful peers. Private advisory boards act much like highly paid board of directors of large corporations – only on an informal basis.
Questions to ask if a Private Advisory Board is right for you?
1. Do you desire a safe and confidential place to air your concerns, fears, and wild ideas?
2. Would you like to hear from other business owners who are or have gone through the challenges you are currently facing?
3. Is having 8-16, impartial, experienced business owners, from non-competing companies, at your beck and call an exciting concept?
4. Would you like to brainstorm your concepts, ventures, and decisions before you try them?
